POLICY

Andolan maintains the following policies in regards to members, employers, and volunteers:

To become a member of Andolan, you must be a low-wage worker.

To become an active member of Andolan, you must participate in at least six meetings a year.

To become a board member, a member must have been active for at least six months.

Employers cannot be members of the organization or members of the board. Our objective with this policy is not to be exclusionary or offensive, but we have concluded that members would not feel comfortable expressing themselves in the presence of employers. Creating a safe space for low-wage workers to express themselves is crucial to advancing the goals of Andolan.

Socially conscious individuals with an interest in workers rights are welcome to support Andolan endeavors. However, the ratio of Andolan members to volunteers must always remain 75:25 (75% members and 25% volunteers). This is important so that the leadership of the organization will always clearly be guided by the low-wage workers themselves. As long as this ratio is maintained, we welcome the help and support of allies. People interested in volunteering with Andolan should contact us.
